The night that tennis fans had been long waiting for came through as Novak Djokovic took on Alexander Zverev at the US Open 2021 semifinals. Both itching to beat each other and play for the title on Sunday, they set a tennis example on the court. It was indeed a matchup made in heaven; the answer to the most asked question: Who prevails – one of the big three or the next generation star?
Unsurprisingly, the camera inside Arthur Ashe Stadium saw a couple of famous faces for this epic encounter. For one, the Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler watched the match quietly from Zverev’s box. Also, the Hollywood star Paris Hilton was enjoying prime time under the lights in New York.

Paris Hilton takes a selfie during Novak Djokovic vs Alexander Zverev US Open 2021 SF
On one side, one of the most important matches for Djokovic and Zverev is taking place on the biggest court in tennis. On the other side, Paris Hilton seemed to be enjoying the entire experience as she took a selfie during a changeover.

Undeniably, watching night tennis at Arthur Ashe Stadium is the best it can get in the sport. Thus, the fun always follows, except for the two men battling out for history on the court.
Coming into this match, Djokovic carried a 26-match winning streak in the Grand Slam tournaments. Naturally, he had eyes on the ultimate prize, the Calendar Slam achievement.
On the other side, Zverev came on the court with a 16-match winning streak, including the Tokyo Olympics. After denying the Serb his Golden Slam, he now faces the challenge of denying him the Calendar Slam.
So, the match was a mini-final before the title match on Sunday against second seed Daniil Medvedev. Hence, they also played this match accordingly.
Djokovic vs Zverev, Set 1: US Open 2021 SFs
Both Djokovic and Zverev started the opening set flawlessly. Until 3-3, there was most certainly no way to separate the two from each other.
However, at 3-3, Zverev read Djokovic’s drop shot early, and even though the Serb answered it, the 24-year-old German got first break point. After saving the first break point, Djokovic got broken at 4-4, asking Zverev to serve for the opening set.

Following that, the World No.1 player saved two set points, but misjudged the third completely. Consequently, he lost the first set 4-6.
