2021 has been the year to script records for world no.1 Novak Djokovic as he managed to surpass Roger Federer to claim most number of weeks as the top ranked player on the ATP tour. Not just that, the Serbian star added three Grand Slam titles to his name and came close to winning the fourth at the US Open, before he was stopped by Daniil Medvedev.

Novak Djokovic hugs both his kids post winning Paris Masters title
Now, the duo met each other once again in the finals of Rolex Paris Masters, and it was Djokovic who got the revenge against the Russian in three enthralling sets. With this victory, the 20-time major champion got hold of his 37th Masters 1000 title, the highest for any male tennis player.

Post the mammoth victory against a budding rival, the Serb ran towards his kids Stefan and Tara Djokovic and embraced them in his arms with affection.

The Paris Masters title this year would be special for Djokovic as he sealed his place for the year-end no.1 ranking for the seventh time and crossed idol Pete Sampras‘ previous record of six.
Djokovic back to winning ways after US Open 2021 loss
After the US Open loss, the Serb initially didn’t reveal his plans for the rest of the season and many speculated that he would end his year and come back to defend the Australian Open next year.
However, Djokovic had his eyes set on the year-end no.1 ranking as he knew that he could go for history by becoming the only player to have done it seven times in his playing career.
With each passing year, the Serbian star is edging closer to greatness and climbing past Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal in terms of greatness.

Against Medvedev today, Djokovic started off the match slowly as the Russian was quick enough to not allow his opponent claim control. This aggression from Medvedev helped him seal the first set, 6-4.
But, the second and the third sets proved why Djokovic will have his name etched in history as the best problem-solver on a tennis court.

To adapt to the Russian’s game, Djokovic started to rely more on and serve-and-volley. This change in tactic worked wonders for the Serb as it got him out of trouble numerous times during the match. Also, the Serb’s first-serve percentage was extremely high(73%) in comparison to Medvedev(61%).

All in all, it was a complete performance from the world no.1 as he overpowered Daniil Medvedev to add yet another Masters 1000 title to his name and head to the World Tour Finals as a clear favorite.
