Roger Federer, in addition to being one of the greatest players to have stepped on the court, is also one of the most respected and loved players in tennis. So, when the opportunity came to wish the Swiss ace on his 40th birthday, no one missed out!

Novak Djokovic, Kei Nishikori, and Felix Auger-Aliassime all sent Federer a birthday wish through a video tweeted by ATP Tour.

Not many players continue playing after they turn 40, irrespective of the sport they are playing. But Roger Federer is unlike most players this sport has seen. His trophy-laden career has seen ups and downs and moments of magic in these past 23 years.

Almost every player on the Tour right now has, at some point in their career, felt inspired by the Swiss legend. And Novak Djokovic conveyed exactly that in a heartfelt message for his dear friend and rival on court.

What a milestone, you still keep on inspiring and thriving on the court, off the court, and inspiring all of us. It’s been a huge honor to share the tennis court and tennis circuit with you in the last 15 years. Hopefully, you can still keep on playing and the sport needs you, of course.

“Thanks for everything you have done and thank you for showing us that even at that age we can play on a very very high level,” said the World No.1.

Kei Nishikori, who has registered three wins against the Swiss star and still hails him as his idol, said, “Roger, Happy 40th birthday. You are still my idol, I always looked up to you and I hope we can still play a couple of more times,.”

Felix Auger Aliassime also wished the veteran and hopes he will be able to continue till the age of 40. The Canadian boy turns 21 this year and managed to beat Federer at the Halle Open earlier in June. “It’s amazing that I am playing and you playing in the same time, I hope I’ll be playing one day when I am 40 as well,” said Felix.

The man reached 20 Grand Slam titles in 2018 when he won the Australian Open. Not many have the grace and flair with which Federer plays on the court; he is the only active player to feature in the top 100 of the ATP rankings at the age of 40.

The Swiss star has won the maximum Wimbledon Championships in the men’s category – eight titles.
