Novak Djokovic breaks racquet in the second set against Daniil Medvedev in US Open finals
The world number one had a similar pattern to his wins during this fortnight at the US Open. He struggled in the first set and later bounced back to win matches. In a similar way today, the Serb lost his initial service game and allowed Medvedev to get a quick lead of 2-0.
Medvedev, being a busy customer on serve, served his way to win the first set, 6-4. Since the completion of the first set, Djokovic managed to put enough pressure on the Russian’s serve and secured a couple of break point opportunities.
But, the Russian held his serve tight and didn’t allow Djokovic to crawl back into the game. With his serve under pressure at 2-1 in the second, Medvedev was relentless in not allowing Djokovic to break.
After missing out a volley, Djokovic almost tried breaking his racquet but withdrew his attempt as a ball kid ran trying to get hold of the ball.
