Carlos Alcaraz clinches his first French Open title—breaking another record! The young Spaniard won his maiden Roland Garros title by defeating Alexander Zverev in five sets. He was overcome with joy at the incredible series of events that culminated in the win, but just after making the game-winning shot, he had an emotional moment with his parents.

To celebrate the victory, which came after a long wait, the 21-year-old climbed up into the stand and hugged his parents and coaching team. As soon as Alcaraz hugged his parents together, both of them were left in tears after witnessing their son win a title in front of their eyes, after all the injuries he had suffered in the past few months.

The official French Open Twitter handle shared the Alcaraz family moment from the stands and wrote, “All the feels.” The Spanish tennis prodigy shot to fame in 2022 after winning the US Open, shooting up the rankings from No. 32 at the beginning of the year to No. 1 in the world by September.

Earlier this year, Alcaraz expressed his affection for his father in an earlier interview with Espana Diario, saying, “He knows a lot about tennis… My father played very well, everyone who faced him says so, but he did not have the opportunity to grow.”

He stated, “I watched a lot of matches. Of course Rafael Nadal dominating this tournament for, let’s say, 14, 15 years. It’s something unbelievable. I wanted to put my name on that list of the Spanish players who won this tournament. Not only Rafa. Ferrero, (Carlos) Moya, (Albert) Costa, a lot of Spanish players, legends from our sport that won this tournament. I really want to put my name on that list, as well.”

In a momentous development, he followed in the footsteps of his childhood idol and fourteen-time Roland Garros champion Rafael Nadal, who won his first French Open championship when Alcaraz was just two years old.
