It has been a long time since fans last saw Dominic Thiem on the court. He injured his wrist at the ATP Mallorca Open 2021 and hasn’t played a professional match since then.
Dominic Thiem’s injury looked like a serious one. He missed the entire grass-court season after his injury and couldn’t travel to New York to defend his US Open title as well. Even though reports suggest that he is recovering, his comeback date is uncertain as of now.

Dominic Thiem made an appearance at a Football match
Those who know Thiem know about his love for Football. He is a huge Chelsea FC fan and watches the sport whenever he gets some free time.

Recently, he watched a match of the UEFA Champions League as a spectator in Salzburg, Austria. The match was between Austria’s RB Salzburg and France’s Lille in which the former emerged as the winner.
Thiem seemed quite happy after his home side’s win and even gave an interview after it. Interestingly, his wrist seemed fine during the interview and it was not looking in a splint anymore. Moreover, the former US Open champion also looked pretty fit and fine.
Doctors will examine Thiem’s wrist once again on Monday. This assessment will decide whether the Austrian player will have to undergo a wrist surgery or not.

Thiem is yet to win an ATP title in 2021
Thiem hasn’t had a great year even before his wrist injury. He didn’t look in great form and hasn’t won a title on the ATP Tour this year.

The Austrian failed to leave a mark at the Australian Open 2021. He couldn’t even enter the quarter-finals as he suffered a humiliating defeat against Grigor Dimitrov in the fourth round of the Grand Slam.

After this, it all proved to be a nightmare for Thiem. He failed to win even a single match at the ATP Dubai, Lyon Open, and at the Mallorca Open 2021. He didn’t even enjoy a great run on clay as he lost a five-set marathon against Pablo Andujar and got eliminated in the very first round of the French Open 2021.
As of now, it is ambiguous whether Dominic Thiem will return to the court this year or now. However, fans still back him and have huge expectations from him. Will he be able to get back on his winning days next year?
