World No.1 Novak Djokovic will be entering the ATP Finals 2021 after winning the Rolex Paris Masters 2021 title. The Serbian legend defeated Daniil Medvedev in the finals and thus, took revenge of his US Open 2021 finals defeat. With his victory in Paris, Novak Djokovic managed to end the year as the World No.1 player yet again. He did it for the seventh time in his professional career and thus, registered his name in the history books.

Medvedev and Djokovic share a warm friendship and the Russian considers Nole to be the greatest of all time. A sentiment he repeated today in front of one of his fans.

Daniil Medvedev says Novak Djokovic is the World No.1 while giving autograph to fans

Daniil Medvedev got off to a great start at the ATP Finals 2021. He made an incredible comeback and defeated Hubert Hurkacz in three sets in his first match of the tournament. The final scoreline of the match was 6(5)-7(7), 6-3, 6-4.

Interestingly, when Medvedev was giving autographs to some of his fans at the end of the match, an intriguing incident took place. A random fan started calling him Number 1. However, the Russian didn’t promptly replied that Djokovic is the No.1 player.

“Novak, Novak is number 1,” said Medvedev while giving his autograph.

Djokovic will start his ATP Finals 2021 campaign against Casper Ruud

Fans will witness Djokovic in action at the ATP Finals 2021 tomorrow when he will encounter Casper Ruud. The Norwegian player has been enjoying some superb form on tour and can stun the 20-time Grand Slam champion with his aggressive gameplay.

Head-to-head, Djokovic leads the battle 1-0 right now. They only crossed their paths at the Italian Open 2020, where Nole defeated Ruud in straight sets. He even went on to win the Masters title that year.
