The Desert Smash is a charity event that is currently happening at La Quinta Resorts in California in 2024. The event sees Hollywood stars partner with tennis players as they raise money for charity around the world. The event this year created just as much buzz as the rest of the year as Novak Djokovic partnered with Charlize Theron, who became a drill sergeant for the Djoker.
Djokovic and Theron played against Yvonne Orji and Victoria Azarenka, and both teams ended up having a fun clash. However, the Serbinator was left doing the heavy lifting for one point.

A doubles clash is a team event where both players do the hard work of winning a point. While it was the case with Theron and Djoker as well, the 48-year-old actress was just not in the mood to run around for one particular point. As Djokovic served to Orji, Theron cheered him on for the return. In response, Djokovic decided that he would do most of the work.
He said, “Charlize I’ll do the running”, as Theron motivated him. She decided not to impede his focused mindset and said, “Do all of it. You got this.” As the 24-time grand slam champion kept running across the court, the Mad Max actress continued to push him forward, chanting, “Let’s go, let’s go, let’s go.”

However, Theron felt that the Serbian star was not giving his 100% and decided to show him some tough love. She eventually said, “Let’s go you lazy bastard.”
As soon as she said the words, Orji managed to hit a cross-court shot, which won her and Azarenka the point. After that point, Djokovic talked about how Theron made him do all the work.

Djokovic came to support Charlize Theron but got trapped in her “strategy”
The crowd cheered for the Serbinator as he played his hardest. Djokovic, in a lighthearted mood, said, “I came here to support Charlize, and her foundation, and she made me work today, she made me run, I think that was a part of the strategy right… you’re there, looking good, and I’m running.” The Serbinator also posed with the host of the event, along with several players who attended the event.
The picture was uploaded on the social media handle of Desert Smash, signifying its importance as tennis’ biggest star attended it. Djokovic has been philanthropic for a long time and has continued it with the help of his tennis career.
