Not to forget, Alcaraz’s last year’s Indian Wells tournament went great as the Spaniard tennis star won his maiden BNP Paribas Open without losing a set. This time, Alcaraz touched one more record as he successfully performed Roger Federer’s famous SABR maneuver.

Fans who watched Federer play, know that this Swiss tennis maestro was famous for moving away up during the second serve of his opponent so that he could hit a half-volley. This often dictated the peace of Federer and frustrated his opponent. Now Alcaraz pulled the same trick as he was playing against Italy’s ATP star Matteo Arnaldi last Friday at the Indian Wells tournament. Carlos Alcaraz’s mastery in Federer’s SABR truly impressed his fans igniting their expectation from the Spaniard this Indian Wells season.

Recently, the official X (formerly Twitter) page of the ATP tour shared a clip of Carlos ALcaraz’s match against Matteo Arnaldi. In this match, fans spotted Alcaraz taking over the Italian ATP star with a striking volley and receiving a point to take over Arnaldi by 3-4. Sharing this clip, the official X (formerly Twitter) page of the ATP tour wrote- “Hey Siri, define ‘SABC (Sneak Attack By Carlos)’@carlosalcaraz|@BNPPARIBASOPEN| #TennisParadise.”

After this excellent performance of Federer’s SABR, fans wish Alcaraz to win another Indian Wells title this season. Alcaraz’s fans knew it coming since the Spaniard received a lot of inspiration from the Swiss tennis legend.

Carlos Alcaraz called Federer “Lionel Messi of tennis”

Last year in an interview, Alcaraz spoke about how Federer inspired his tennis skills. Federer has been a childhood hero to Alcaraz and the SPanird admired Federer’s excelling ability to play with “ease.”In his words- “Roger, because of the talent he has and the ease with which he plays,” Not just that Alcaraz also called the Swiss tennis legend the “Lionel Messi of tennis.” 

This Spanish tennis prodigy also spoke about paying attention to Nadal and Djokovic’s skills for his success. Alcaraz commented- “I want to continue winning many Grand Slams and for that I have to pay attention to Djokovic and Rafa, because the years go by and they continue to win those tournaments and continue to give their best level. And that is what I would like to me: keep myself at the best level as the years go by.”
