Andy Murray is one of the most talented tennis players to have represented Great Britain. The 33-year-old has three singles Grand Slam titles to his name, but he would’ve never made a career in this sport if he had chosen to pursue soccer when he got the chance as a teenager.
Judy Murray, Andy’s mother, recently revealed that both her sons were incredibly good at not one, but multiple sports as kids. The 61-year-old opened up on her sons’ childhood talents on Celebrity Chase’s Christmas Special.
“What many people probably don’t realize is that they both did a lot of other sports as well when they were young, it was never just about the tennis,” mentioned Judy Murray.

Both Andy and Jamie Murray have made a reputation for themselves in tennis. The duo have won multiple Grand Slam titles in their respective careers, but it could’ve turned out differently if not for life-changing decisions.
It corresponds to both siblings as they were pursuing different sports as teenage kids.
“When Jamie was 15 he had a handy cap of three at golf as well as being a good tennis player,” Judy mentioned. “And Andy when he was 14 had to make the decision between tennis and football because he got offered the chance to sign with Glasgow Rangers on a youth thing.”
Andy Murray’s mother has certainly made a massive revelation, as the Rangers are one of the most successful clubs in the Scottish top-flight division.

Andy Murray received a call up from the Rangers youth-squad, but he picked tennis over football as his professional interest.
And rightfully so, Murray went on to win junior tournaments, after which he craved an incredible career for himself in the ATP tour. Murray’s been around since 2005, and he’s currently gearing up to enter year 16 in the professional circuit.
