In the fourth episode of the series- ‘Unfinished Business’, Zverev recalls that incident from the Monte Carlo Masters when Medvedev played with the mind of Zverev and snatched the victory. During the third-round match, the German seemed all over the Russian. He was serving for the match in the second set, but the Russian was in no mood to finish the business early. Consequently, Daniil Medvedev pulled out a net pole in frustration. Additionally, he ran off for a toilet break shortly before a Zverev service game.

It’s in fact, disrespectful to take a break when an opponent is about to serve, and here’s what Alexander Zverev said about Medvedev. “Look, Medvedev is one of the best players in the world, but I also think that a lot of things that Medvedev does are frustrating at times. He’s someone who knows how to play with the head of the opponent. I think there are a lot of unfair things happening in the game that he uses quite well to his advantage.”

As Zverev is not a fan of Medvedev’s min games, he goes on to reveal his perception of a match. He continues, I like to win and lose by playing tennis. I’m not someone who tries to do dirty games just to put your opponent off. That’s not how I was taught the game.”

Zverev added, “He is one of the most unfair players in the world, I take fair play and sportsmanship very serious. He does not. He takes a toilet break when it’s not possible anymore.” Medvedev snatched the victory from the jaws of defeat. He took 3 hours and 5 minutes to defeat Zverev by 3-6,7-5,7-6(7) at the Round of 16 in Monte Carlo. Both of them are ready to face each other yet again, who’ll get the upper hand this time?
