Over the years, Andy Murray has enthralled tennis fans by putting on some breathtaking displays during his illustrious career. He has constantly been amongst the elite group in men’s tennis and challenged for big titles. At a time when the likes of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic were at the top of their game, Murray carved a niche for himself, winning three Grand Slam titles.

Murray has been consistently playing at the top level this year after an injury-laden past few years. He underwent hip surgery and even had a metal joint implanted in his hip. Recently, he had some grim news to share with his fans.

Andy Murray is left heartbroken by the passing away of his pet dog

The former world number one took to Instagram to announce the passing away of his pet dog, Maggie. Sharing a post on his official Instagram handle, Murray said, “Today our family said goodbye to this amazing little dog. She was a huge part of our family and our first pet so this really hurts. Give your pets a big cuddle tonight cause it stings when you can’t anymore. Thanks Maggie Mayhem you were an absolute star.”

Murray had welcomed Maggie to his family in 2008 and often shared adorable moments with the pet. Last year, he even mentioned how his dogs help him to “switch off” and how they supported him during his tough times.

Apart from Maggie, Murray also has another pet dog, Rusty. The latter joined the family in 2011.

Murray wants to become a coach

Recently, the British star revealed his wish to turn into a coach after retirement from tennis. Talking about this, he said, “There’s many decisions and many things I would have done differently and that’s one of the reasons that may be why, like, when I finish playing that, I quite like the idea of being involved in coaching and that sort of stuff because yeah, I feel like I’ve experienced a lot in my career and I achieved a lot of the targets that I would have liked too.”
