In an interview with the Glamour, Brooke Shields was asked all sorts of questions about her physical and mental health, and of course about her ex-husband, tennis legend Andre Agassi. She also talked about her current marriage with Chris Henchy.

During the conversation, Shields shared how things are different now. She said, “When I was with Andre, I wanted to morph into his world. It was freedom to me. Chris saw me for who I was, loved who I was with all of my dorky things, and just was unfazed. His jokes were funnier than the ones I was being written on [on Suddenly Susan], and so he was giving me alts and I was claiming them as my own. They got Brooke Shields. It didn’t matter.”

This statement clearly indicates the reason why Shields left her previous marriage with Agassi and met someone who made her feel more like herself. In fact, this is not the first time Shields has mentioned her disappointment in her marriage with Agassi. A few years ago, she mentioned that Agassi was controlling, just like her mother.
Agassi gets called out by ex-wife Shields as controlling
Brooke Shields shared in an interview that her mother used to call her a lot when she went to Princeton to complete her education in French Literature. She shared that she tried to cut it down to 5 calls a day when she was away. Further, she also shared that when she got married to Agassi, it felt like she swapped one form of control for another.

Her marriage to Agassi was nothing but a belated teenage rebellion, as she shared in the conversation. She also added that people usually say that you marry someone like your father, but she married a person like her mom, and that was Andre Agassi for her.
