Becker got the opportunity to come out early from prison as he chose to leave England to get back to Germany. After his release from jail, the former tennis star was quick to schedule an interview to narrate what happened to him inside the prison. Here’s what he said to SAT.1, according to the ExpressUK.
“The food in prison was mostly rice and potatoes. You just eat everything because you’re so hungry. When it was served, I was afraid. You don’t know what someone else is doing behind you.”
The German further added, “another inmate wanted my money and wanted to kill me.”
Becker was very emotional throughout the interview and broke down frequently.

Earlier this year, the 55-year-old was sentenced to two and a half years in prison after he was found guilty of hiding assets worth 2.5 million at the time of declaring bankruptcy. Later, as per an arrangement allowing foreign nationals to be shifted to their country of origin, the authorities deported him back to Germany.
Becker earned well from his interview
Even though the German legend is out of prison, all his problems are not over yet. The 55-year-old has no source of income left after his exit from the BBC. In such a situation, the earnings from this interview came as a boon for Becker. He has earned a massive six-figure sum for giving the interview. As of now, he will have enough money, but the six-time Grand Slam champion needs to look for alternative job options.
