It seems like Rafael Nadal has taken a lead in the ‘GOAT’ race. The Spaniard has started the 2022 season off with a bang. The former World Number 1 won the Melbourne Summer Set tournament, dominating his opponents in each of the matches en route.
Further, he created history at the Australian Open 2022 by becoming the first man to win 21 Grand Slam singles titles. In what was a thrilling encounter, he defeated Daniil Medvedev of Russia in the summit clash. Moreover, his victory at the Grand Slam Down Under came 13 years after his first one in 2009. It must have been truly special for the Spaniard.
His fellow players and past tennis greats lauded his performance at the tournament. Additionally, the Rod Laver Arena echoed with the words ‘Rafa, Rafa’ as the Spaniard lifted the trophy. People were in awe of his determination to fight back in the match. Further, Nadal returned to his hometown earlier this week.

After a successful Australian Open campaign, Nadal returned to Spain on Wednesday. While he was walking with his luggage at the Palma de Mallorca airport, a fan rushed to him and begged for an autograph for her disabled daughter.

The Spaniard stopped by and asked her daughter’s name. He then gave his autograph. Additionally, he even had a message for her daughter, along with his autograph. Nadal yet again proved why he was a gentleman on and off the court.
Earlier, after his finals victory over Daniil Medvedev, the 21-time Grand Slam champion had acknowledged the crowd for their support. However, back then, he was unable to sign autographs for the fans. Instead, he returned flying kisses to them and apologized for not signing the autographs. These moments only show that he is a human being, after all!
