When there is Novak Djokovic, there is drama and especially if a match gets heated up and emotions rise, it will be difficult to contain the Serbian star as he vents out frustration before getting back to business. During his second round match at the on-going Australian Open, the Serbian star was irked by a group of violent fans as they made it their job to distract the whole mood of the match.

Novak Djokovic blasts chair umpire for staying silent amid violent spectator drama at Australian Open 2023
Djokovic, who bore the brunt for majority of the match, lost it when the fans antics reached their peak as he lashed out at the chair umpire for not doing anything to control the crowd.
Novak Djokovic is taking some time out to complain to the umpire about a noisy fan in the crowd who keeps shouting out: "The entire night!"

Djokovic later complained, “The guy is drunk out of his mind. From the first point he has been provoking. he’s not here to watch tennis. He just wants to get in my head.”

After consistent outbursts from Djokovic, the security at the stadium had a conversation with the group of fans and they were escorted out finally before peace returned to the stadium.

Djokovic, who was not a stranger to aggressive reactions from the crowd, gave it back to one of the violent spectators with a kiss. Here’s the full video of his whole conversation with the chair umpire.

While Novak ended up winning the match, it was too late a reaction from the security at the Rod Laver Arena to take action against the violent spectators. Way before the tournament even started, fans were warned by Tennis Australia chief about the possible repercussion if they decided to go off against Djokovic.
The same happened today during Djokovic’s second-round match and proper action was taken against the particular bunch of angry fans. Amidst all the drama, the 21-time Grand Slam champion managed to clinch the victory and moves on to the third-round where he will face familiar foe Grigor Dimitrov.
