While there have been multiple legends in the history of tennis, the era of the ‘Big Three’ (Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic) is completely different. Their dominance in the past two decades is unprecedented in the sport, and likely to be unmatched for a long time.

Talking about the Swiss legend Roger Federer in particular, the 40-year-old is the oldest of the three and enjoys an enormous fan following all around the world. Along with being a legend, the Swiss maestro is very down-to-earth and humble. This side of the legend was again on display when he acknowledged one of his fans in a restaurant.

In what can be called a lucky day for a Roger Federer fan, he spotted his idol in the restaurant and told the 40-year-old that he was his inspiration. He even had Federer’s tattoo etched on his hand. While the crowd cheered for the guy, they wanted him to show the tattoo to the legend himself. After having a look at the tattoo, the ever so gracious Federer gave a hug to the lucky guy.

“Roger, I have a tattoo of you, you are my biggest inspiration, and I didn’t expect to meet you here.” the fan said.

Someone recorded a video of the incident and it went viral on social media.

While the 20-time Grand Slam champion could have easily avoided the fan, his gesture proves his classy behavior.

When will be Federer back in action?

Roger Federer has been missing from action for a long time now. The legend recently shared pictures of himself practicing in preparation for his return to the ATP Tour during the Swiss Indoors Basel tournament. As per the announcement on the website, he will play his first match on October 25.

However, this news confirms that the 40-year-old will miss out on the remaining two Grand Slams of the year.
