Today, at the Wimbledon Championships, Rafael Nadal is currently having a pretty rough time, as he is fighting hard against Taylor Fritz. During this quarter-final match, he went down early against the American tennis player, as he lost the first set.

However, in the second set, Nadal came back in the set by breaking him early. But it was clearly visible that Nadal was facing some sort of trouble with his stomach. As Nadal was sitting during the changeover, his father and sister made an indication to him about possibly retiring from the match.

According to a footage from the quarter-final match between Nadal and Fritz, the Spaniard’s father, Sebastian Nadal, and sister, Mar?a Isabel Nadal talked to Nadal while sitting in the player’s box. Meanwhile, another Spaniard, Feliciano Lopez, who was commentating during the match, has also pointed out this incident. You can watch the video below.

It seems like he was suffering from a muscle injury on his abdomen. Also, during the second set, Nadal had to take a medical timeout to treat his injury.
Nadal is headed off court for a consultation with the trainer.

Despite the injury concern, he won the second set against Fritz by 7-5, after going down in the first set 3-6.

In the end, Nadal survived the battle with Fritz and won the match in five epic sets. After the match, Nadal revealed that his father and sister were telling him to retire.

Nadal?s injury problems since last year

Last year, Rafael Nadal’s recurrent foot issue resurfaced, which forced him out of the tour after the French Open. To recover from that injury, he had to go through surgery on his foot. This year at the Australian Open, he came back to the tour and surprised everyone by winning his 21st Grand Slam.?

After that, he suffered another injury at Indian Wells, and this time, he suffered an injury to his ribs. After recovering from that injury, he came back to the tour at the Madrid Open to play his first clay-court tournament of the season. Then at the Italian Open, he aggravated his foot issue that worsened last year.

So many pundits counted him out before the French Open this year. However, he proved everyone wrong by winning the Roland Garros title for the 14th time in his career. Now, he is on the verge of winning his third consecutive major this year at the Wimbledon Championships. It will be interesting to see if he can overcome his latest injury concern.
