Federer played doubles with Rafael Nadal in the last match of his career. In attendance, were Federer’s children and his wife Mirka. After the match, the family proceeded courtside where they had an emotional embrace with Federer.

Federer’s children couldn’t hold back their tears as Federer consoled them saying, “I?m so happy. I?m not sad. ok?”

During the on-court interview, Federer thanked his family members for the positive influence they have had on his career. Moreover, he talked about how his wife Mirka could’ve stopped him years ago but instead backed him to continue playing.

Federer tasted defeat in the last match of his career. Partnering with Nadal, the duo lost against Team World’s Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock. Nonetheless, it was a treat for tennis fans, with the match going right to the distance. Sock and Tiafoe prevailed in the match tiebreaker to win.

How did Federer’s children react to his retirement news?

During an interview, the 20-time Grand Slam champion revealed how his kids reacted when he informed them about his retirement. Federer said, “Somewhere they were sad that I was stopping. But they always said, ‘Stop playing tennis, we want to go skiing.’ I told all four at the same time, and three of the four cried.”
