Fans were quite excited to see the semi-final clash between two 2-time Grand Slam champions at the Qatar Open 2021. Victoria Azarenka was up against Garbine Muguruza to seal a spot in the finale. However, the exciting match didn’t take place as Azarenka was not able to compete in the match.

Garbine Muguruza got a walkover even before the start of the match. Victoria Azarenka suffered a back injury in her previous match against the top-seeded player Elina Svitolina. Even though she caught up with the injury during the warm-up, she didn’t give up and showed some fighting spirit. Eventually, she emerged as the winner as well.

It appears that the World No.14 player hasn’t recovered from her back pain and thus, she decided not to play the match. Muguruza got lucky as she didn’t have to face an in-form Azarenka and got an easy entry into the finals of the Qatar Open 2021. The Spaniard will face Petra Kvitova in the finals of the tournament.

Azarenka began her tournament on a high by defeating Svetlana Kuznetsova in the first round in straight sets. She continued her great run and defeated Laura Siegemund in the next round to book herself a place in the quarters.

However, it was the match against that brought her to the limelight again. She won the match in straight sets even though she was in immense pain. She delivered some great forehands to advance to the semis of the tournament.

Fans were really expecting a great match between Muguruza and Azarenka as Azarenka reached the semis without losing a single set. However, she was not able to compete as she wasn’t fully fit.

Fans hope that Azarenka recovers soon and will be back on the court soon. Will the 30-year-old be able to win a Grand Slam title in the 2021 tennis season?
