Reilly Opelka has been one of the biggest servers on the ATP tour. He’s currently representing America at the Davis Cup. However, Opelka has made the headlines yet again. After losing to Lorenzo Sonego of Italy, Opelka attended the post-match press conference.
The American is always vocal in his opinions on any subject. This time he’s in the news because of a journalist. Opelka expressed his annoyance at the famous journalist.

Reilly Opelka disappointed with the unprofessionalism of ATP
In the opening match at Davis Cup 2021, Reilly Opelka lost to the Italian Lorenzo Sonego in straight sets 3-6, 6-7 (4-7). Sonego played some good tennis as he sealed the victory against the American. Just after the match, Opelka got involved in a little disagreement about the post-match press conference.
The outspoken Opelka decided to answer all the questions using limited words. When asked to speak on the game, he replied, ” Yeah it was a good match.” Subsequently, when asked to comment on the atmosphere, ambiance, and crowd, he replied, ” Yeah, it was cool.”
A famous journalist took to Twitter to share the series of questions and answers from Opelka’s press conference. Soon after this, Opelka shared his disappointment over the journalist’s actions.
” Very unprofessional of an @atptour press officer. I give my opinions, u guys get salty. I don’t give my opinions, u guys get salty,” he wrote on Twitter. It seems like the American is frustrated over the actions of the journalist.

Opelka’s statistics at Davis Cup
Reilly Opelka of America made his debut at the Davis Cup in 2019. Since then, he has played just four matches in the competition. He has won just one match out of his four singles matches played at Davis Cup. Moreover, the big server hasn’t participated in the doubles event yet.
This year was particularly strong for the American. He reached the fourth round at the US Open, reached Masters 1000 finals, and also broke into the top 20. Opelka would be definitely hoping to deliver noteworthy performances at Davis Cup 2021.
