If there’s one rivalry that can continue the legacy of the ‘Fedal’ rivalry, it is definitely the Alexander Zverev vs Daniil Medvedev rivalry. The two ‘Next-Gen’ players have been phenomenal this season and part of an intense battle. Although Medvedev won the last two matches, Zverev leads in the overall head-to-head competitions.
At the ATP Finals 2020, there were some questions to Alexander Zverev about his rivalry with Daniil Medvedev. The interviewer believed that unlike Rafa and Federer, the two used to have a little edginess and heat whenever they face each other. In response to this, Zverev said that there was nothing like that.
“Edginess and heat? No, we are very good friends. I mean, good friends. I know him since childhood. We’re friends. There is no heat or anything like that,” replied Zverev, clearing out the air.

There were certainly two intense games played between the two recently. Daniil Medvedev first defeated Zverev at the Rolex Paris Masters 2020 and then at the first robin round of the ATP Finals. Despite losing, Zverev admitted that there was no heat, and they respect each other. The 23-year-old German also acknowledged that the two of them are good friends.

Zverev even said that he was absolutely fine with Medvedev and had no problems with him. Interestingly, the World No. 7 believed that Stefanos Tsitsipas and Medvedev had more heat in them than him.

“We want to win, obviously, but it’s not Stefanos and Daniil. I think they have a little bit more than me. I’m fine with him. I have no problem with him,” added Zverev with a smile.
Zverev definitely wanted to say that it was not the heat, but the passion to win that was visible. However, fans clearly love to watch Zverev v Medvedev matches because of the intensity of the game.
