Taylor Fritz is going through a turbulent time at the moment. Following a quarterfinal finish at the US Open this year, he has had a poor run of form that has resulted in early losses. As a result, he has dropped in the ATP rankings chart as well, being on the brink of the top 10 position. Recently, he announced another sad news for his fans ahead of some big matches.

Fritz is currently in Paris to participate in the Paris Masters. However, an untimely injury has forced him to withdraw from the tournament. Subsequently, he made a major revelation on the remainder of the season.

The 26-year-old took to Instagram to announce his decision for the remainder of the season. It was a disappointing update for his fans, as his season has ended with an injury.

Talking about it, he said, “Really sad way to end the season. I’m devastated that I have to pull out of Paris with so much on the line when all I wanted was the chance to compete for my spot in the world tour finals. I have been playing through some minor oblique pain but yesterday in my match on one specific shot I felt I made it a lot worse, and even though I was able to finish the match I didn’t have the best feeling about it.”

Further, he went on to add, “Today I got scans done and unfortunately I have to withdraw from the tournament. Time to start rehab and try to be back on court as soon as possible.”

Fritz was playing with an injury during his opening-round match in Paris. However, it eventually aggravated due to which, he pulled out of the remainder of the season. After his first-round match at the Paris Masters, he called out a lingering issue that was bothering him.

Fritz highlights his concerns

Despite having an easy straight-set victory over Sebastian Baez in the first round, the American star wasn’t happy, as a persistent issue troubled him. During a post-match interview, he highlighted the same.

He opened up about it, saying, “It’s something that’s been bothering me for a little bit… I didn’t think it was anything too bad going in [to this match], but one where I slid out and sliced that forehand, I felt like I did something that I had never done to it before.”

With this, Fritz’s season has come to a premature end. However, he’ll hope to regain full fitness as he aims for a positive start in 2024.
