This year’s Australian Open final between Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev has been the main talking point for all the right reasons. Many people are still talking about it, and the latest one is the Australian Open 2022 doubles winner, Nick Kyrgios.
In a recent podcast, the Australian player talked about that incredible final. Like many people, Kyrgios also thought Medvedev was going to be a terrible match-up for Rafa. However, Rafa’s miraculous win even surprised Kyrgios. In that same podcast, Kyrgios also said something interesting about the Goat debate.

In the No Boundary podcast, Australian superstar Nick Kyrgios talked about the Australian Open final. According to him, Medvedev was a terrible match-up for Rafa, as he also thought Medvedev will eventually win. However, the Spaniard made a miraculous comeback, and Kyrgios could not believe it.

“Match-up wise I think it’s a horrible match-up for Rafa. The court’s not playing like Rafa wants it to play to win, like. He wasn’t gonna get any free points on serve. Medvedev just gonna make him play too much, Medvedev can still serve through the court. When he won the first set and then he won the second, I was like it’s gonna be very tough for Rafa to come back. I actually saw 3-2, 0-40. Then I turned it on like 2 and a half hours later and my initial thoughts were ‘no f***ing way’,” Nick Kyrgios stated.
Nick Kyrgios also believes if Rafa wins the French Open he will win the Goat debate. “I have never doubted Rafa that much in his career. I think the Goat conversation now if he wins French, he’s unquestionably the Goat if he wins French,” Nick further stated.

Can Rafael Nadal win the French Open?
according to Kyrgios, Rafael Nadal will be the greatest of all time if he wins the French Open this year. Without Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer, Rafa will have an easier path than usual. However, it will still be a difficult tournament for Rafa despite winning the French Open 13 times before.
Meanwhile, Novak Djokovic will probably miss all the Grand Slams this year, as he decided not to take the vaccine. And Roger Federer is still recovering from injury, and he will most likely make his return to the court in Wimbledon this year.
