Marian Vajda, the long-time coach of the current World no. 1 Novak Djokovic, finally opened up about the whole visa cancellation saga of the Serbian. The Slovakian former player has been coaching Djokovic since 2006 and is one of the best coaches on the tour. Together, they have achieved incredible success on the men’s tour.
The biggest tennis story of January 2022 has been Novak Djokovic’s visa cancellation because of his noncompliance with Australian guidelines. Somehow, the Serb managed to win his case in the court, but that reprieve wasn’t long lasting. Then, the Australian Immigration minister canceled the 20-time Grand Slam champion’s visa again and, as a result, Novak was deported from the country.

The Slovak blamed the media for all the drama and also feels disgusted by the treatment Novak received in Australia. He believes, “It was an unhealthy and unjust decision.”

The Slovak also talked about French Open, whether Djokovic will be able to play or not. “don’t understand and I don’t understand why it’s important for them to announce this now about the tournaments that will take place in May, when the world doesn’t even know what will happen to the pandemic in a month,” Vajda stated.
He was talking about the French Sports Ministry’s recent announcement that competing in the French Open would be impossible without vaccination, which came after a new legislation was passed.

Since reaching Serbia, Djokovic has not stated anything publicly, and his deportation from Australia must’ve impacted Novak mentally. However, his pursuit of the 21st title looks to be in peril if his stance on vaccination does not change.
The French Open will start in May and later, two more Grand Slam events will follow this year.
