Unfortunate Scenes in Roger Federer’s Hometown as His Symbolic Tribute Suffers Gruesome and Tragic Fate

Roger Federer has made a name for himself that no one else can even compete with. He is so loved by people all around the world that fans have even named a tram in Basel with his name. It is called the ‘Federer Express’. However, recently an unfortunate incident transpired that left the tram reeling in the wake of destruction.

An accident with the Federer Express and another vehicle has jeopardized the future of the fan-loved tram in Basel. And his fans feel as bad as they usually do when Roger used to suffer injuries on the court.

Roger Federer Express gets into an accident leading to an injury break

According to the Swiss newspaper 20 Minuten, a Basel tram which has been named after the Swiss legend Roger Federer got into an accident. A collision between the tram and a truck meant that chaos ensued. The accident took place right in front of the St. Jakobshalle.

The unfortunate incident took place on Monday afternoon. In fact, this is the same place where Swiss Indoors takes place. The good thing was that no one was injured, except of course the ‘Roger tram’. Unlike the tram named after him, the Swiss Maestro has had a wonderful time in Basel, both on and off the court, over the years. Swiss legend Roger Federer has had straight wins there from the start of his career, and this place surely means a lot to him.

Roger Federer and his Basel dominance

Roger started playing in 1998 at Basel. He played his first match against Andre Agassi when he was just 17 years old. He lost the match at the time and had to take an early exit from the tournament. However, just one year after this loss, Roger came back and reached the quarterfinals.

Just before his injuries clouded him, he played at the Swiss Indoors until the year 2019. Even at 38 years old, he entered the tournament, while he was ranked number 3 in the world and played against Stefanos Tsitsipas and Alex de Minaur. He beat both of them and won the 103rd title of his career there, too.
