Jannik Sinner started his Paris Masters campaign with a bang. He won his first match with a comeback and gained intense momentum for his following matches. However, the Italian player could not continue his stint as he cited fatigue given the short gap between his two matches. A tennis news outlet posted about the situation on their ‘X’ profile by comparing the current number 4 to Roger Federer.
They made the comparison that Federer managed much more gruesome schedules than the ones faced by Sinner. The comparison did not settle well with tennis fans as they hounded the poster.

As Sinner announced his withdrawal from the Paris Masters, an ‘X’ account called him out by sharing a 2018 statistic of the Swiss Maestro. They wrote, “August 18th 2018. Federer defeated Leonardo Mayer 6-1, 7-6 in an hour and 12 minutes. Four hours later, he beat Wawrinka 6-7, 7-6, 6-2 in two hours and 16 minutes. “Fatigue”.“
The comparison did not settle well with tennis fans as they decided to defend the 22-year-old Italian player. One fan did not hold back and called the poster an ‘idiot’ who did not understand the situation.
Another idiot who doesn't understand what the problem actually Is. https://t.co/qPHtBbv062

One user said that such a comparison was unfair to both Sinner and Federer. They further said that using a random statistic to measure their abilities is pointless and that a player should speak up when they’re fatigued.
This is so unfair to Sinner. And also to Roger Federer. Don't use a random stat to measure different players' abilities. So, now a player can't even say he's fatigued? https://t.co/FDjwClJyp5

Another user said that the gruesome scheduling was unfair to both players. Regardless of fatigue, their conditions of play weren’t good at all.
fun fact it’s unfair to them both!
fatigue or not, it’s simply not right. https://t.co/GmixrNfxqO

Another user called the poster out and said that it was a pointless take. They further said it’s an “I had it hard, so everyone needs to have it hard” mentality, but it wasn’t Federer who was speaking out about it. Instead, someone unrelated was saying it for him without knowing the impact of their words.
Nah how dumb can you be to miss the damn point
This is such “I had it hard so everyone needs to have it hard” mentality except it’s not Federer saying but some random person who has no idea how that feels.
Players shouldn’t be putting their health in risk https://t.co/fRotBPnLD8— Krista (@BwehRublev) November 2, 2023
A fan said that they were rendered speechless at the tweet, since the circumstances were unfair to both.
unfair to both! idk what to tell you https://t.co/J24V37hvI0

One avid tennis fan reminded them that after all these feats, the Swiss Maestro would lose to John Millman in round four of the US Open. They also said that if he had rested properly, he could’ve performed better. They further mentioned his defeat to Novak Djokovic in the Cincinnati Masters final.
Ya and then he lost to John Millman in the fourth round of the US Open the next tournament, so maybe if he rested and focused on the important tournament he could’ve performed better. But good he lost to Novak in the Cinci final 👍🏼 (for Sinner that would be Turin ATP Finals)

One fan said that Federer never had to play a match at 3 a.m. and that Sinner could also play two consecutive matches in the morning after a few hours of rest.
Federer was never scheduled to finish a match at 3AM. I bet many players including Sinner could also play 2 consecutive matches during the day with a few hours break.

Fans have come to the defense of the young Italian player as he withdraws due to fatigue. His physical fatigue comes from late-night matches, which did not allow him for a proper rest period.

The brutal scheduling of Sinner
A match against a professional player will be exhausting for many people, regardless of their physical abilities or talent. A certain amount of rest is essential for players to recuperate adequately. Tennis players, on the other hand, rarely have that opportunity, and Jannik Sinner was a victim of poor scheduling. The Italian player had less than 15 hours till his round two match.
A picture of his schedule was shared by Jose Morgado, tennis journalist and commentator. He further revealed how in the time between his next match, he has to also talk to the press, travel, and cool down. The situation eventually took its toll on Sinner, and we now saw him withdrawing from the tournament.
