Roger Federer said goodbye to professional tennis this season. The 20 times Grand Slam champion appeared in the Laver cup for one last time and walked out of the sport. He, alongside his biggest rival and good friend Rafael Nadal, played his last match.

Speaking of which, Nadal not only stood by Federer’s side in his last dance but also supported his emotional family. The 22 times Grand Slam champion after shedding tears alongside their father gave a warm hug to the children. Here’s how fans responded to the clip that melted many hearts.

The beauty of Nadal and Federer‘s relationship is that even though they obstructed each other’s possible greater achievements, they are thankful for competition and sport. And it was clearly visible in the Spaniard’s behavior at the O2 Arena.

Though the moment that overwhelmed fans with emotion is Nadal hugging Federer’s kids. As they wrote, “Made my day! Thank you very much for sharing,” and, “The hug was so genuine like he was saying I love you kids”

This year, the tournament hosted its fifth edition and for the last time, the big four played under the same banner. Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic, and Andy Murray joined hands to represent Team Europe alongside the 2022 French Open and US Open finalist Casper Ruud, Cameron Norrie, Stefanos Tsitsipas, and Matteo Berrettini.

However, unlike the last four seasons, this time, Europe failed to clinch the trophy in London. 21-times Grand Slam champion Djokovic‘s and former world no.3 Tsitsipas’ also were defeated on 25th September.
