Just when fans thought they’d see the last of Danielle Collins as the 2024 season neared conclusion, the American sensation flipped the script. She came back for more after pushing her retirement plans and now, she has joined Team USA in their United Cup quest. Collins has more plans to follow up in Perth. That includes party plans with her compatriots at the season-opening event.

Collins announced that she’d walk away from competitive tennis after 2024 as she plans to start a family. Amid enduring medical issues like rheumatoid arthritis and endometriosis, she had a hard time managing her personal life alongside touring affairs. However, she was forced to make a decision reversal due to fertility issues. “While there are no guarantees in life, I hope to build on my 2024 momentum and keep playing until there is more certainty around my personal fertility journey. The only guarantee for now will be some more epic matches.”

The 31-year-old produced laudable results in the past season. She claimed title wins in Miami and Charleston, which helped her climb inside the top 10 ranking column. And the American sensation is in the mood to have a blast now with fellow players in Perth. She previously told reporters about the ‘escape room’ activities she’d planned with her girls, Coco Gauff, Desirae Krawczyk, and others. “Looking forward to probably doing the escape room later, as long as I don’t fall asleep early.”

After capping their respective seasons, players were enthused to commence the new year alongside their compatriots. Even Collins was thrilled for the American team’s reunion following their last group adventure at the Paris Olympics.

Danielle Collins labels the United Cup reunion as a “no-brainer”

American superstar Danielle Collins was one of the lead representatives of Team USA at the Paris Olympics earlier this year. She breezed through to the event’s quarterfinal; however, her success was short-lived, as she bowed out to Polish Iga Swiatek after sustaining an abdominal injury. Regardless, her singles campaign was nothing short of commendable.

Now after reuniting with her team for United, Collins told the reporters, “Yeah, I mean, after the Olympics, we just had to get the fam back together. We had a good run there and had a great time with the same crew. It was a no-brainer after talking to everybody about coming back this year and kicking it off here in Perth.”

Collins will next take to the court at the Australian Open, which commences on January 14, 2025. With a strong string of results from last season boosting her morale, the American player is likely to deliver a noteworthy outing in Melbourne. Are you backing her?
