In an exclusive with USA Today, Shields talked about her difficult childhood and the following problematic adulthood. She also added how life was for her before and after the divorce was finalized with Andre Agassi. Shields said that she never reconnected with Agassi post the separation. She went through something similar after she had a tussle with Michael Jackson.

The two had a fight after Jackson implied that he was dating Shields, which she said was not true. However, the two reconciled and became friends again. But Shields never did that or tried to do that with Agassi. She said that she does not regret never reconnecting with him. This gave her the opportunity to work on her own talent and grow in her field.

“I’ve never reconnected with him,” she says. “That was an important stage and relationship in my life and I don’t regret it. It afforded me a lot of space from my mother and gave me this belief in my own talent. That was one of the main beautiful purposes of the marriage. But I don’t know if he does that much reflection on things. People process things very, very differently and I have come to respect that.”
