There are some tennis legends that have engraved their habits and routines into the heads of tennis enthusiasts. Be it the twirl celebration of Serena Williams or the obsessive direction of bottles by Rafael Nadal. This, consciously or subconsciously, has affected young tennis players. One such player is Stefanos Tsitsipas who could not help but mimic a close friend and Davis Cup teammate of Roger Federer, Stan Wawrinka, after securing an astounding victory at the French Open.

Roger Federer has bid the sport farewell. However, his friend Stan Wawrinka is not yet ready to say goodbye despite not being able to perform his best on the court. The two have shared a wholesome friendship. Besides that, the two paired up to win the Davis Cup for Switzerland back in 2014.

Although Wawrinka is suffering from the ill-effects of aging, the Greek player Stefanos Tsitsipas has imbibed his spirit as he breezes past his opponents in the latter rounds of the clay-court major.

After winning his fourth-round, Tsitsipas pointed a finger to his head. Later on, when he was asked to elaborate on its meaning, he said, “Mental strength.” Probing more, he called out tennis legend Wawrinka’s celebratory move and stated, “Stan The Man.”

Stefanos: “Mental strength.”
Corretja: “What else?”
Stefanos: “Stan The Man”

Tsitsipas is now all geared up to go against the Spanish tennis sensation, Carlos Alcaraz Garfia.
Although the current generation is taking up celebrations after him, Stan Wawrinka is struggling on the court. The Swiss star lost his second-round match at the French Open against Thanasi Kokkinakis. After witnessing his loss, a former world no.10 resonated with his struggle.

Former world no.10 relates to the plight of Wawrinka and Dominic Thiem
Lucas Pouille hit the headlines when he defeated Rafael Nadal at the 2016 US Open. However, as injuries hit him one after the other, he suffered a major career setback. Comparing his career to that of Dominic Thiem and Stan Wawrinka, he stated how he could understand what they must be going through.
Pouille faced a second-round defeat at the French Open. However, the first-round victory proved to be the hope at the end of the tunnel for the French tennis player.
