It is the end of an era. Earlier this month, Roger Federer announced his retirement decision, marking the end of an illustrious career. The former World Number 1 and 20-time Grand Slam champion will play the last match of his career at the 2022 Laver Cup.

Additionally, fellow players also congratulated Federer on a wonderful career. Recently, Federer took to social media to provide a quick update about his last few days.

The 41-year-old took to Instagram to express his gratitude for the amazing messages that he received after announcing his retirement decision. Federer said, “Hey everybody, just wanted to give a quick update how everything is. Number 1 – A huge thank you to all the wonderful messages that I have received over the last few days. It’s been clearly very, very emotional but good.”
Further, he added, “I am happy now to be in London and it’s been wonderful to be surrounded by really close family, Mirka, kiddies, and everybody and my team as well and I feel very happy that my message was so well received. Your messages have been incredible, really they have and it means a lot to me.”
Talking about his preparations for the Laver Cup, Federer said, “Now, I’m getting ready. I’m practicing, I’m feeling really good and actually can’t believe it to be back on the tennis court, trying to get ready for one more match. So, I’ll keep you posted along the way.”

Ticket prices soar at the Laver Cup
Since Federer revealed that the 2022 Laver Cup will be his last tournament, there has been a greater demand for tickets for the tournament in London. As a result, ticket prices have shot the roof for the tournament. The tickets for the Laver Cup touched the range of 55,000 – 59,000 pounds in reselling.

However, Federer is still undecided on his Laver Cup participation. If he does miss out on playing singles due to his knee problem, he will potentially team up with Rafael Nadal to play doubles at the tournament.
