The American ATP star was struggling to break points against his compatriot as the latter was serving really well throughout the match. Despite that, Tommy Paul and his coach Brad Stine ‘accidentally’ managed to find a way to outclass Ben Shelton. Consequently, it was Tommy who emerged victorious, 7-6 (6), 6-3, 5-7, 6-4, in their all-American quarterfinals matchup in Melbourne.
Later on, during the post-match interview, Tommy finally revealed that he went to his coach for some advice on his game. Talking about his coach, Paul said, “He was like, what? I was like, where am I going? And then I think when I said it was a little bit louder tone.”
He further revealed, “Ben heard it. He screamed ‘T’ and then I covered ‘T’ and then he went wide. Hey so”.
Tommy finally managed to break a point after getting a piece of advice from his coach. Stine told him where he thought his opponent is going to serve. Paul got a ‘T’ sign and then his compatriot delivered a wide ace. Both the American tennis stars were later spotted chuckling during the heat of battle.
Paul has another coach there for him in Melbourne
During a post-match press conference, the Australian Open semifinalist previously revealed that his fellow Americans are constantly supporting him. He also revealed that his compatriot, Reilly Opelka has nearly taken up a role of a coach during the Grand Slam event.
