Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer have had many battles in the past, as their rivalry on the tennis court changed the history of tennis. People have named their famous rivalry ‘Fedal’. Till now, Nadal has had a slight edge over Federer in terms of head-to-head record. However, many believe that Nadal’s record is better because of all the clay-court matches.
Aside from all that, Nadal and Federer have chemistry off the court, as they are also great friends. On October 19, 2016, Nadal inaugurated his world-famous Rafa Nadal Academy and Roger Federer was the special guest at that inauguration.

Despite their rivalry on court, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer are truly great friends off the court. Back in 2016, Nadal invited Federer for the grand opening of his Rafa Nadal Academy. They had pretty awesome moments from that event. Roger praised Rafa for creating such a beautiful place for kids to learn tennis.
In that event, Nadal gave Federer a collage of their special moments on the court over the years. Below that beautiful collage, Nadal wrote a lovely message for the Swiss Maestro.
The message said, “Dear Roger, thank you very much for your support at the official opening of my academy. Today is an unforgettable day for me, my family and my team. You cannot imagine how special it is to have you here with us. Roger, this reflects all the moments we had on the court. Looking back at them I see all the great memories we shared in our careers… To be continued…”

At the ceremony, Roger also said some nice words to Rafa. “I hope the kids are going to learn from this great man. He’s one of the greatest we’ve ever had. His attitude speaks for itself. I hope it’s going to be a wonderful academy. One thing’s for sure, I know where I’m going to send my kids if they want to learn tennis. I’m going to send them right here!” Roger said.
Rafa played a charity match with Roger in Africa
In 2020, Federer invited Nadal for a charity match in Africa to raise money for children’s education in Africa. Without hesitation, Rafa accepted the proposal, as it was for a great cause. Their match was a massive success, as it raised more than $3 million dollars.
The match itself drew impressive numbers, as 51,954 people watched their match live in the stadium. In front of a record number of people, Federer beat Nadal by 6-4,3-6,6-3. Irrespective of the result, the ‘Fedal’ match did its purpose.
