In the sports world, there are very few people as well-known as Roger Federer. His smooth and impressive tennis skills have wowed people all around the world, turning him into a true legend. Just when everybody thought that he had finished off his incredible career in tennis right around this time last year. However, Federer surprised the world with a hint that he might come back sooner than expected.

It does bring a lot of joy to the tennis community to think about the Swiss maestro swinging his Wilsons again. While he may never play on the ATP tour again, he is still looking forward to playing in exhibition matches.

Even though Federer said goodbye to professional tennis just about a year ago, he still stays very involved in the sport he loves. While he hasn’t competed in singles matches since Wimbledon in 2021, he’s been carefully following what’s going on in the tennis world.

Mere hours ahead of Roger Federer’s Laver Cup, the Swiss legend himself stated that he is still looking forward to playing exhibition matches down the road. Federer stated, “Very happy about how busy I am. I’m in the gym a lot and I try to stay in shape. Coming back to the tennis court and playing exo-s down the road, and trying to raise money for the foundation is also a big thing for me too.”

Interestingly, this isn’t the first time Roger Federer has talked about playing again down the road.

Roger Federer’s post-retirement involvement in tennis

Ahead of Wimbledon, where he has 8 of his 20 Grand Slams, Federer shared his enthusiasm for the current state of tennis and the fresh talent entering the scene. “I check the scores three times a day,” he revealed with a smile. “It’s incredible to see how the new generation is stepping up and challenging the old guard. The competition is as fierce as ever, and it’s a joy to watch,” as reported by Eurosport.

Although Federer hasn’t been on the court much since retiring, he remains hopeful about the possibility of returning to competitive tennis. “I don’t play so much anymore, unfortunately or fortunately,” he reflected. “I haven’t booked a court yet, called up a friend and said, ‘Let’s go play tennis.’ But I play a lot with my children, so I try to help them a little bit, try to be a coach, but it’s not easy! But it’s some good moments, and it’s going to create some good memories for us,” Federer added, as reported by Eurosport.
