Gael Monfils has been a frequent visitor to Washington. The French maestro, over the years, enjoyed a lot of success playing at the Washington Open. Before the commencement of the tournament this year, the organizers organized a small dinner party to welcome all the players. Significant names like Gael Monfils, his partner Elina Svitolina, Felix Auger-Aliassime, and many others were present. When asked about the city, Gael revealed what he likes about the city and why he frequently enjoys visiting the place.
This year at the Washington Open, Gael came in a supporter cum guide to his partner Elina, while also contesting his candidacy to claim the winners’ trophy. Interestingly, both have made their way to the round of 32 in the tournament and show no sign of stopping.

Gael Monfils reveals why he likes to visit the United States’ capital
In a recent revelation, Gael was asked about the reason he likes visiting Washington, D.C. What he likes about the place and everything. Replying to this, he said that the place is filled with wonders, lots of energy and good vibes. This gives him satisfaction and a recent to visit the place more often.
“I love it all the time when I come here. The city is beautiful,” Monfils told ATP Tour.

He further added, “I really like being around in the city, the energy is great, and definitely the crowd support here is different. I have actually one of the biggest memories in my career, so it’s always nice and great to come back.”
Monfils also did not shy away from thanking the fans who have always been supportive of him whenever he has stepped on the courts to compete. Interestingly, throughout his career, he has visited multiple places but the United States has been completely different for him.
Not only Monfils, there are many other players who have been drawn towards the charisma of the beautiful country. The legendary Roger Federer also remarked that New York has been his go-to city and the only place in the world where he would want to visit often. Talking about Monfils, there’s another reason why he can’t move his heart away from the capital city.

For Monfils, along with the city, its tennis courts gave him a memorable career moment
Another reason for him to like the beautiful city is the fact that he tasted victory a few years back in 2016. This year, he has made his way into the round of 32, where he will be facing Alexander Bublik. In the round of 64, he cruised past American Bjorn Frantangelo with ease. The final score of the match was 6-4, 6-3 in favor of the Frenchman.

Thus, with the hunger to do more, he will be willing to make his way to the finals of the tournament and secure the silverware yet again. If he manages to win, he will push his tally to two tournament wins. Not only this, he would be cheering for his wife Elina to taste victory, as she is enjoying an amazing turn of form at the moment.
