Andy Murray has been playing quite well and can make good exploits this Wimbledon if he carries on the momentum. He has crossed the first hurdle already by dismantling Ryan Peniston in style? 6-3,6-0,6,-1. Murray may not be at his usual best, but counting him out in a best-of-five contest would not be a wise thing to do. He has dedicated himself to preparing for this Wimbledon a lot, even skipping Roland Garros for that. So it will be interesting to see how deep he can go in this tournament.
He was asked a rather interesting question after his first-round win in his post-match press conference. Murray though gave a pretty straightforward reply to the question. The Brit is known for his appreciable conduct both on and off the court. He is also known for his frankness. And he exhibited the same frankness when that question was asked.

A reporter asked Andy Murray in the post-match press conference after Murray’s round 1 win, about his former rival and legendary Swiss superstar Roger Federer‘s presence in the stands. He asked if it was strange to have your former rival now sit and watch your match as a spectator. Murray replied that it was not strange but rather that it was nice to have Federer come and watch the match.
He told them that in the past he has had the experience of it and reminded everyone of how Federer and Rafael Nadal dealt with Pete Sampras and Rod Laver watching them in a bunch of matches. Thus, he told them he did not find that as a distraction. He said, “I didn’t find it strange, I mean, it was nice to have him there. [Pete] Sampras watched Roger and Rafa. You know, those guys, Rod Laver’s been in a bunch of matches at the Australian Open.”
“Yeah, I guess, it can be strange, but it’s also nice to have them there. Yeah, I have had the experience of that in the past. Yeah, I don’t find it to be too much of a distraction, to be honest”
Murray thanks Royalty and tennis royalty
After Andy Murray dumped out Peniston, in the on-court interview, he thanked the Princess of Wales Kate Middleton and also termed Roger Federer as ‘tennis royalty’ and thanked him for his support as well. He said that the last time he was on this court, was the time of the Olympics and Federer sided with Wawrinka and supported against Murray, so now he is happy that he was supported by Federer after some good shots.
He said, ?It is amazing to have some royalty here, but also some tennis royalty,”

?It is amazing to have Roger here supporting the event,” he continued.
?Last time I was on this court and he was watching was during the Olympics. He sat in Stan Wawrinka?s box and was supporting against me, so it was nice to see a couple of claps today after some good shots”. Thus, Murray savored his first-round win and showed that he can play good tennis as well as can have a good sense of humor.
Thus, Andy Murray looks very focussed and relaxed at the same time and it is a threatening sign for his competitors as they know if he finds his groove, it will be very difficult to stop him. So they will be cautious of the two-time Wimbledon Champion.
