Pickleball, the sport that has taken over the entirety of America, will see four tennis legends in a match-up. Set in a format similar to the Davis Cup, the Pickleball slam will see Andy Roddick vs Michael Chang and John McEnroe vs Andre Agassi. After that, McEnroe and Chang will face Roddick and Agassi respectively. The four have been preparing for it for quite some time.  However, the group’s youngest member, Andy Roddick, is unsure what he can bring to the match, given the restrictive rules.

The four are set to play a racket sport again for a long time after their retirement. They have marked April 2nd, coincidentally the final of the Miami Open, as their return.

40 years old would not be young for any sport. However, Andy Roddick is the youngest of the four players in the slam. Not only that, but Roddick also said that he was confused as to how the approach the sport as per tennis.com. When he read the rule book, he found his movement limited and his dangerous serve taken away due to an underhand serve.

As I’m walking through the (pickleball) rules, I saw they took away my youth with (limited) movement, and they took away my serve with having to serve underhand.” Roddick said with a slight chuckle.

Andy Roddick will first face Michael Chang, who was a rival to John McEnroe during their prime. But he had some worries ahead of their much hyped clash.

How many viewers will the slam bring?

Roddick had some apprehensions about the match. He said that it is liked instantly by the people who play it. But he needed to figure out how the sport would translate to television. It may not end up being watchable since people don’t have any idea of the specifics of the sport yet.
