It’s often said that Novak Djokovic doesn’t get the amount of respect he deserves. Some believe that it’s down to his aggressive on-court reactions while some believe it’s due to the media. Breaking a strong duopoly of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal perhaps contributes to it considering that Roger and Rafa were always fan-favorites.
Recently, Djokovic’s mother has weighed in on the topic and shared her opinion. Just like others, she feels that her son was underappreciated. Dijana Djokovic goes on to apply serious accusations on the world and tennis media, which according to her has always been biased towards Federer and Nadal.

Novak Djokovic’s mother fires back at media bias
Dijana Djokovic suggested that the media tries to downplay her son because he ‘spoiled the party’ for Federer and Nadal. According to her, they cannot digest the fact that Djokovic has surpassed their achievements.
She said via Sportal, “It simply bothers them because he violated some of their plans to be the best in the world. First, second, Federer or Nadal… They (world media) didn’t care between the two of them, but only if it wasn’t Novak. They just can’t understand that he is the way he is. They all think he’s faking it, and that’s what he is.”

Will the media have a choice if Djokovic wins eight Wimbledon?
Novak Djokovic may have the slam record but he is not universally considered as the greatest currently. However, Wimbledon being the most prestigious slam holds a significant amount of value in such debates. Currently, Roger Federer has the most number of men’s singles titles at Wimbledon. With two more wins, Djokovic can equal the Swiss Maestro and present a stronger case for him being the greatest.
