In the second match at the Australian Open, he bullied Bublik and won the match by 6-1, 6-0, 6-4. In his first match, Monfils destroyed Federico Coria of Argentina by 6-1,6-1,6-3. Both the matches indicated that he is in fine form and can make a good run at the Australian Open.
In the next match, Gael will face Cristian Garin of Chile, one of Nextgen talents out there. The Chilean tennis player had a tough battle against Pedro Martinez of Spain in the second round, but can be a dangerous opponent for Monfils. It will be an interesting match-up for sure.
