Last year’s Laver Cup was an emotional moment for the tennis world. Roger Federer, one of the best players to have played the sport, played his last competitive match there as he announced his retirement from professional tennis. Not just fans but also fellow players were left saddened as his void was impossible to fill. Now exactly a year after his retirement, the Swiss maestro has left tennis fans in a frenzy while showcasing he still has some ammo left in his armor.

The 20-time Grand Slam champion has made his way to Vancouver where he is involved in the Laver Cup, albeit as a spectator this time. Nonetheless, he enthralled fans as he took to the courts against legend Jim Courier there.

The Swiss maestro played some rallies against Jim Courier before the start of the Laver Cup. He produced some magic there as he won a marathon rally with a wonderful passing shot. This reminded fans of his peak days when Federer used to dominate against his opponents.

As his video went viral on Twitter, one of the fans said, “Roger come back pls. The man is unreal even when retired.”

Another fan had a similar opinion about Federer’s game, saying, “He’s barely moving but gotta admit that groundstrokes are still smooth. In my opinion.”

Further, one fan was all praise for the Swiss maestro’s calmness on the court, revealing, “Fed looking so cool & calm as he collects Jim Courier.”

One of the fans had some unique adjectives to praise Federer. The comment read, “OH MY FREAKIN LORD. Roger Federer, you are and always will be the bossest boss to ever boss!!”

Another Twitter user adored the two as they played some great rallies, saying, “Love both of those guys.”

Before the start of the Laver Cup, Federer revealed how nostalgia about Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic clouded him. Last year, the trio played for Team Europe at the Laver Cup which was Federer’s last tournament. Talking about it, he said, “Seeing the camaraderie, people from different countries coming together in a team, like me and Rafa or me and Novak, has been wonderful.?
