Serbian tennis star Novak Djokovic has divided the world over his covid-19 vaccination stand. A few prominent tennis personalities like John McEnroe raised their voice, showing their displeasure with the government’s decision. Now the 24-time Grand Slam champion Margaret Court also came in support of Djokovic.



While a few believe it’s fair for the 35-year-old to miss out on the action while being unvaccinated, a few disagree. After a controversial Australian Open earlier this year, the Serb pulled out of the US Open as well. The travel guidelines in the US require full vaccination for foreigners.

Margaret Court on Djokovic’s vaccination stand

In a recent interview, the legendary Australian tennis star Margaret Court spoke about Djokovic‘s stand. Supporting his decision, the Aussie said, “Sometimes in life, some people think one way and some think the other way. Well, that’s alright. With Covid, it’s the same thing. Some people chose to get the vaccination and some didn’t. That’s what life is all about.”

It will be interesting to see now if the legend gets any kind of relaxation in the next year’s Australian Open. Notably, the Serb is the most successful player in the history of the tournament with 9 titles to his name.

The incredible achievements of Novak Djokovic

Djokovic is one of the all-time greatest tennis players. The 35-year-old is commonly referred as one of the members of the ‘Big three’, along with Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. Djokovic has 21 Grand Slam titles to his name. The recent one came earlier this year at the Wimbledon Championships.

Further, the 35-year-old is one of the eight male players to achieve a career Grand Slam. He is in a constant race with the other two members of the big three to secure the GOAT title.

While Nadal leads the list for most Grand Slam titles (22), Djokovic is just one title behind (21) the Spaniard. Swiss tennis maestro Roger Federer sits third with 20 Grand Slam titles to his name. With Djokovic’s stand against vaccination and Nadal leading with one title, it will be interesting to see if Djokovic can come back on the top at next year’s Australian Open.
