Legendary yet controversial tennis star Boris Becker is currently serving out his 2.5-year sentence in London after being charged by the London Bankruptcy Court in April 2022. This came as a shock to many fans of the sport, considering Becker was once one of the most famous personalities in the sporting world.

The tennis star won Wimbledon at the age of 17. He has won six grand slam championships, including three Wimbledon, two Australian Opens, and one US Open title. The German was also a former coach of 21-time grand slam champion Novak Djokovic for almost four years. In that duration, the Serbian player won six grand slams.
Boris Becker?s mother recalls the only call from prison
The former world number one is currently spending his time in jail. His mother opened up about the one call she received from his son over the past few months. The German tennis star called his mother on the occasion of mother?s day and reassured her not to worry about him.
She said, ?I can no longer fly to Boris, I can?t visit him in prison. That makes me sad, but it can?t be helped. Boris called me once while in prison. It was for Mother?s Day. He said everything was fine and I shouldn?t worry about him.? She also shared her discomfort of not being able to meet him because of her aging issues.?

She also added that she gets his son?s updates from his girlfriend, Lilian de Carvalho, who is in touch with him. The former world number one will be detained in a semi-liberty manner for the rest of his sentence after serving half of it in prison.
John McEnroe’s message for Becker
The German player was a regular on the BBC coverage as a sports analyst and was present alongside the American tennis star John McEnroe last time. McEnroe holds his fellow commentator in high regard and said, “Boris, we love you. We all miss you, friend.”?
