Yesterday, we saw one of the best matches at the Indian Wells 2022 between Rafael Nadal and Nick Kyrgios. Unsurprisingly, the quarter-final match between the two had plenty of drama. From racket smashing to crowd interactions, the match had it all.
Incidentally, Nick smashed his racket two times, one in the first set and another after the match. Unfortunately, the second time the racket nearly hit a ball kid, who managed to evade the object just in time.

Earlier, the Aussie player posted on his Instagram story apologizing for smashing the racket. As per Kyrgios, it was an accident, as he felt frustrated at the end of that match. On Instagram, he said, “Hey guys, I just wanna apologise to that ball kid at the end of that match! It was a complete accident, and was frustrated at the end of that match.”
“My racket took a crazy bounce and was never my intention… If anyone knows who that ball kid is, send me a message and I will send a racket to him… I’m glad he is ok!”

Complete accident, you all ok from it? I was wondering if I could send you a racket and if you could accept my apology? Are you at the courts tomorrow?”

“Of course my bro! Didn’t want it going anywhere near you, to be honest. Ok perfect, I’ll head to the courts and come track you down and give you the racket tomorrow? Sound all g?” Nick continued.
“Perfect. Thank you so much!” the kid replied back. Then, the Australian player ended the conversation by saying, “No stress, see you tomorrow!”
Kyrgios and Nadal had an outstanding match
Despite all the drama, the match itself was incredible. In the beginning, Kyrgios was ahead, however, Nadal made an impressive comeback to take the first in a tie-breaker. In the second set, Nick turned things around as he broke the Spaniard to take the second set by 7-5. Eventually, the Aussie could not match Rafa’s resilience, as he won the match by 7-6,5-7,6-4.
