In a recent conversation during a GQ interview, Roger Federer was asked about the changing requirements for professional tennis players in recent years. Being a master of the sport and carrying an elegance that the world admires, Federer opened up and shared his thoughts, relating the situation to his kids.
Federer, who is now retired but still related to the sport because of his kids’ training, said, “I think everything has moved forward. I’m seeing this with my children right now. My nine-year-old sons are now scheduled to play tennis four times a week. I think that’s too much. When is there still time for the other things? You always intervene earlier in order to ideally prepare their characters for what is to come.” While the 42-year-old expressed his thoughts about the extensive nature of the training, he continued with a neutral and respectful gesture as he added, “That can be positive and negative, but I’m more cautious.”
