Zverev shared, “You know playing slow is a good tactic. I played golf with Carlos Alcaraz last week in Toronto.” He further added, “He gave me a very good game plan against him. You know at the end of the day I am a fighter, I gotta win.”
The young Alcaraz, frequently referred to as a ‘boy wonder’, had unwittingly added to Zverev’s strategy against Medvedev. Drawing from his experience, Alcaraz had shared, “One thing that came up was that he told me that I had just beaten Daniil quite comfortably, and what was the tactic and how I did it,..” (Google Translated). Emphasizing his innocence, the Murcian also assured that these are things “that don’t happen much.”
While Alcaraz clarified that every athlete has their coaching staff and strategy, sometimes these little tactics can help a player win. Zverev’s success, helped by Alcaraz’s feedback, uncovered the intricate relations influencing tennis results. However, this isn’t the only time the German has waxed lyrical about the Spaniard.
