The Swiss tennis legend, Roger Federer has surprised the tennis world by announcing his retirement after his glorious two-decade tennis career. Tennis fans are going berserk as the 20 Grand Slams title winner is finally calling it quits from tennis.

In addition, Federer said that the Laver Cup would be his final tournament. The Swiss tennis player was struggling to return to the court because of a lack of fitness caused by numerous injuries.

Fans react to Roger Federer’s retirement from tennis

Many tennis fans took to Twitter to express their disappointment with Federer’s decision to retire from tennis. They couldn’t believe one of tennis’s greatest players would retire after the Laver Cup. One of the fans tweeted with the username @DavidWaldstein tweeted, “Roger Federer is evolving away from tennis. He was so much fun to watch.”

Another fan expressed his sadness over Federer’s retirement announcement video.

A plethora of tennis fans from all over the world thanked the legendary Federer while also expressing disagreement with his decision.

Another fan paid tribute to the Swiss tennis legend, he tweeted “Thank you for everything Roger!! You’ve changed tennis forever!!! Words cannot describe what you mean to everyone”

While other fans thanked him and called him the “G.O.A.T’. One of the fans tweeted, “Thank you Roger. You are an inspiration to many. Because of you , many started to hold a tennis racquet. You are a true legend and GOAT. Thank you”

What did Roger Federer say about his retirement plans?

The 20 Grand Slams title winner expressed his gratitude to his fans and competitors who were there with him during his glorious two-decade tennis journey. He posted a video on his social media announcing his plans to retire from tennis.

Even his friend and rival, Rafael Nadal posted an emotional post on his social media. Nadal paid an ultimate tribute to the Swiss tennis legend, Federer.

The 20-time grand slam champion has broken numerous ATP tour records and is hailed as one of the greatest tennis players of all time or simply the ‘G.O.A.T’.
