Andy Roddick is a name every American remembers fondly. Roddick was the last individual after Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi to win a Grand Slam from the USA. However, recent performances of American stars have given hope to the country. Frances Tiafoe, Sebastian Korda  Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton, and Tommy Paul have been slowly climbing up the ladder. In fact, Taylor Fritz recently reached the top five, the only American male to do it since Andy Roddick in 2009. However, not all agree with the ranking given by the officials.

Taylor Fritz has received the official ranking from ATP. The organization caused a blunder for Fritz last year. A glitch in the system caused him to get bumped up to eighth place instead of thirteenth after winning Indian Wells.

Taylor Fritz has been steadily improving his game and rising through the ranks. He defeated Rafael Nadal in the 2022 Indian Wells Masters and grabbed headlines.

His recent triumph at the Delray Open bumped him up to rank five from rank seven. Fritz became the only male player from America to rank so high after Roddick in 2009. The official Instagram account of the US Tennis Association posted a picture of the achievement on their page.

They captioned it “History for us and Taylor Fritz.

His fans filled the comment section with wishes for Fritz and praise for his game. However, one comment disagreed with the opinions of everyone. The user said that Taylor Fritz didn’t deserve to even be in the top ten, much less the top five.

He ain’t top 5 lol. Barely top 10.

Fritz comes to his own defense

Almost all the replies were calling out the user for making such a comment. Moreover, Taylor Fritz himself replied to the comment with his official Instagram account.

Fritz told the user to contact ATP if they thought something was wrong with their system. “@stukedogg u should talk to @atptour and have them change the rankings for u.”

Fritz has worked hard to win the Delray Open and for all of his accomplishments. He has been rewarded nicely for his efforts and he will continue to strive to be even better.
