Novak Djokovic announced last month that he would sit out the Indian Wells Masters and the Miami Open. This comes due to the ban on entry of unvaccinated individuals into the US. The scenario has split people into two factions. Some chastise the Serb’s decision to stay unvaccinated while others are annoyed at the US government for having such stringent rules. The decision has also divided tennis professionals. Reilly Opelka, an American player, is on the side of Djokovic and was outraged at the decision the country has taken.

When the US government crushed Djokovic’s chances to play at Indian Wells Master and Miami Open

All the outrage for the Novak Djokovic situation came out when the US government denied him entry. The Serbian had requested the country to give him a waiver since the country’s COVID-19 policy would be lifted in two months. However, Nole was denied the opportunity and hence has to forego his participation.

The incident was revealed in a tweet by US Senator Rick Scott. He said that the US government had made a big mistake and needed to reevaluate its decision.
