It’s always a surprise with Novak Djokovic. As an opponent, if you are about to face the Serb and decide to watch his previous match where he was struggling with injury and prepare blueprint accordingly, chances are extremely high that the 21-time Grand Slam champion will puzzle you straight away. Alex de Minaur, the young Australian who walked into Rod Laver Arena with scores of fans rooting for him, faced similar fate today as his game faltered in-front of the mighty Serb.

Novak Djokovic admits going against his belief to clinch the 2023 Australian Open
Djokovic reached yet another quarter-final of a Grand Slam and will now meet Andrey Rublev for a place in the final four of the Australian Open. Djokovic was in good spirits today as the numbing pain in his thigh wasn’t bothering him for now. The Serb had a lengthy discussion with former American legend Jim Courier right after an easy three-set win.
When asked about whether a similar injury experience mid-tournament a couple of years ago in Melbourne gave him any sort of confidence to push through the current pain, Djokovic quickly retorted by saying, “Well, look, you know, Jim, you have been through few injuries in your career so you know how that feels especially when you are playing a tournament. You don’t know what is the degree of the injury until you actually play a competitive match.”
"Whenever she looks at me, I'm disarmed." 🥺 Novak's tribute to his children after tonight's win was just beautiful. ❤️

It is after this statement that Djokovic brought out his fun side.

“I have been taking a lot of pills. It’s not ideal. But, trying to mask the pain. No, not those kind of pills, guys. Anti-inflammatory pills that I normally don’t like taking.”
Well, this comment just proves how badly Novak Djokovic wants to win the whole tournament after what he experienced last year in Australia. Also, if one takes a look at the draw, it looks as if there is no real threat to the Serb who wants to claim a record tenth Australian Open crown.
